this is simply a gratuitous post

wherein I marvel for a moment in the beauty of wood furniture, mid-century mechanics,
and words set in perfectly straight lines.

You say gratuitous, I say amazing. Long, beautiful lines of handset type, worn-furniture patina, and shiny shiny black ink: one of my most favorite things ever...

Clare, these photos are gorgeous. I fell in love with type back when I was in elementary school and we got to tour the local newspapers print room, such a beautiful thing :)

Hope you are enjoying the sunshine, T. :)

I hear a lot of stories of people falling in love with, or at least fascination with, type during a tour of the local paper's print room when they were kids. I wonder if newspaper pressroom tours are still as ubiquitous? Touring the OregonLive blog or the NYT Online just doesn't seem quite as exciting :D
